Subsequently, the Fourth Meeting of the Central People’s Government Committee on December 2, 1949, officially adopted the “Resolution on the National Day of the People’s Republic of China.” Since 1950, October 1st has become a statutory holiday celebrated with great pomp by people of all ethnic groups across the nation, embodying the patriotic sentiments and striving spirit of hundreds of millions of Chinese children.
